English Toy Spaniels

The English Toy Spaniel is a compact, cobby and essentially square toy dog possessed of a short-nosed, domed head, a merry and affectionate demeanor and a silky, flowing coat.  Toy spaniels were a favorite pet lap dog in Europe, with each family having its favorite. The King Charles Spaniel was recognized in North America as the English Toy Spaniel, in order to prevent confusion with the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

English Toy Spaniels are NOT the same as Cavalier King Charles spaniels. In everywhere else but the United States and Canada our Et are actually called King Charles spaniels. Cavaliers are a much larger, longer, taller dog with a long nose and tail. It can all be confusing but remember the Et are much more like a very small cocker with a short nose and tail.
